 Sripad Bhakti Vedanta Santo Maharaja's
Transcedental departure

At the moment when the Vaishnava world was getting the news that Srila Bhakti Kumud Santa Maharaj, one of the last disciples of Srila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, returned to the spiritual world, another mystical significant news was known but elsewhere in the world, specifically from Peru Yatra, the news was that our dear Sripad Bhaktivedanta Santo Maharaj also left this world. Two Holy Maharaj left this world on the same day, practically at the same hour. Now we share with you some words of Srila Guru Maharaja and Srila Atulananda Acharya about it:

Srila Guru Maharaja

Sripad Bhaktivedanta Santo Maharaj was one of my dearest disciples’ sannyasis. He became a devotee in the temple of Javier Prado in Lima, where Prapanna prabhu was preaching. His participation as a sankirtaner and preacher was highlighted from the very beginning. Sadly, Maharaj was attacked by severe arthritis for several years, but the various attempts which were made to improve and recover him from the illness were not very successful.

I want to express my love, respect and love for Santo Maharaj's father; I have never seen a dad so dedicated to the welfare of his son like him, who with dedication and tolerance accompanied him into our temples to Ecuador.  He considered Maharaja not only his son but a Gaudiya sannyasi and although he is not a devotee initiated in the Vaishnava tradition, his esteem was so deep that one could almost give him the title of "the best server".  So I have a bit of regret that his father had to invest so much energy and time in caring for Holy Maharaj, but after all the comforts at home had made that Maharaj's treatment was more bearable.

Sripad Santo Maharaj made his home an expansion of the office of his spiritual master, from where je constantly sent classes and lectures in audio format to the devotees, to keep them current. Although arthritis was a big hassle, Santo Maharaj gave a great example of tolerance, such that a Vaishnava heroically continues trying to serve Sri Krishna and His devotees.

Santo Maharaj is a pure devotee who left to the Spirit World and to remember him we are going to build a puspa samadhi in Eco Truly Park, one of its places of worship. Vrinda devotees and especially the devotees of Peru should be very proud to have known a soul so tender and so worried as he was; one who was known from its beginnings as the brahmacari name of Dayal Caitanya Das, the servant of the most merciful Lord Caitanya.

Santo Maharaj is very fortunate, as he is now next to Srila Harijan Maharaj, Srila Prabhupada, Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Maharaj and Srila Bhakti Kumud Santa Maharaj, a disciple of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, from whom Santo Maharaj had his name, and who left this world the same day, almost at the same time that he did.

Despite our sadness, we may be in some way happy because Krishna took our Santo Maharaj and his departure reminds us, once again, that we all have to follow this way and therefore we must become very serious in the spiritual life , otherwise, we will become big losers.

With all my affection.

Srila Atulananda Acharya

Jay my dear devotees.

Sadly I find out about the departure of our beloved Holy Bhaktivedanta Maharaj.
It brings sadness for my side but happiness for him. I was always struck by his simplicity, his strong Krishna consciousness and his sweet humility.

No doubt he was a very special soul who led his tough disease with great fortitude.
Krishna sent him that strong hardship, which he knew how to tolerate well, his devotion remained steadfast, his desire were to always be with devotees and to serve.
One time as he was feeling so bad, I could talk to him on the phone and all he said was he wanted to be with Krishna devotees and serve. So, no doubt, Sri Krishna now has given him a beautiful body by which he will serve with full satisfaction.

Santo Maharaj left us with his example this wonderful and valuable teaching of remaining always attached to the Lord and be never discouraged. Many teachings he has left us with his example and memory.

What mystic, moreover, about the fact that he departed the same day of His Divine Grace Santa Maharaja from Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada. So, he went away as a family, he had somebody to guide him along the way.

I look forward to his grace and bless us from the above that he is now.
Santo Maharaj, ki jay !!

The simple fact of remembering him it will always be the greatest blessing to us. These are the gifts, the inheritance that Vaisnavas have left us, their humble and simple lives, completely surrendered to the Supreme. His example of courage will always be our inspiration and teaching which we should keep in honour of his beautiful and valuable memory.

Again, Santo Maharaj, ki jay !!!
I humbly pray for His blessings.
